    Test environment from production data

In a few situations, the required modifications are implemented direct in the production environment. In such cases, a test environment with the current data from the production environment is extremely helpful. This is done as follows:

The standard settings of the attributes to be exported already define the basic requirements. The following attributes must be taken into account for the creation of a user object:

    • dn:

    • cn:

    • givenname:

    • sn:

    • objectClass:

    • sAMAccountName:

    • userAccountControl:

    • userPassword:

    • userPrincipalName:

    Optional:

    • memberOf:

These attributes are configured for export as defined under Modified statistics. After all objects have now been displayed in the list view of the LDAP-Explorer, these entries can be exported to a *.CSV file via the context menu. This file will then be opened again in the Import view. The domain suffix in this file can now be replaced with the aid of the Search and Replace dialogue.

The new file can then be saved. It should be noted that the passwords cannot be read out, and must be reset on import into the directory service. With an existing profile, another directory service can now be selected via the context menu ‘Export to the directory service’.

The required settings are now selected in the options.

The option ‘Create dependent objects’ is extremely important. With the aid of this option, all organisational units and the group objects, together with their memberships, are created automatically if they do not exist already. Finally, a synchronisation of the Active Directory can be forced if necessary.
