    Export Assistant

The different options define the relevant tasks and support the administrator in depicting various scenarios in the export process.

Continue process in case of faults

In the event of so-called bulk import of several objects, the process will be continued in case of a fault.

    Update existing objects

During the export process, the existence of the relevant object in the directory service is checked. If the object exists already, the process switches automatically to the corresponding syntax (API reference). This enables an export process to be repeated as many times as required. The system distinguishes automatically between the creation of a new object and updating of an existing object. This mechanism can be deactivated if necessary.

    Prevent duplicates

It is ensured in the creation of user objects that the Netbios name of the user object is unique. If variables are being used, the nearest possibility will be checked (e.g. from %1:givenname%.%sn% to %2:givenname%.%sn%). With the classic character sequence, 01 will be added at the end.

    Create dependent objects

A check will be carried out during the export process as to whether all requirements have been fulfilled. This includes the existence of organizational units or group objects which have been determined by means of the property values of a user object. If this option is activated, the missing objects will be created dynamically, in order to create the user object with the required properties.

    Update password

The password of the user object will be updated. The corresponding method will be selected according to the manufacturer (Novell, Microsoft).

    Create mailbox

In addition to the user object, the mailbox will be created on an exchange-server. A corresponding service must be installed on the exchange-server for this purpose. This can be done in the dialogue Settings->Service Management.

    Create directory

In addition to the user object, the profile directory for home directory, with the relevant NTFS rights, is created in the file system. If necessary, a DFS link is also created.

The user must have the necessary privileges in order to carry out this task. Optionally, such a user can be defined in the dialogue Settings->General.

    Synchronise Active Directory

On completion of the export process, the synchronisation of the Active Directory can be forced if necessary. In the case of distributed environments, this option is helpful to make new objects known in the directory service.
